4D’s + 2D’s = 6Ds’ of Success
November 9th, 2007Success isn’t by luck. If you Play by Luck, you will 99.99% get PLUCK from your success.
Play with Luck = PLuck (a concept I learned from Zig Ziglar)There is many got to DO’s thing that I learned from my appointed motivation and self-help guru. The below is the summary of what I learned on the D’s of success.
1st D’s – DECIDE THAT YOU ARE GOING TO BE SUCCESSFUL.
First, simply decide to be successful. Many times people wanted to be successful and did not make any final decision that they indeed going to successful.
Wanting are like dreaming for something but if you put a decision to have it, your mind and physical body will eventually work towards attaining it. You can keep wanting for something but without a firm decision to have it, it just turn out to be just another dream that often forgotten once you wake up.
“Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing”. by Abraham Lincoln
2nd D’s – DETERMINE WHAT SUCCESS MEAN TO YOU?
Do you know what success meant to you? Many of us didn’t come about to being successful due to generalization in the meaning of success.
Example Bad Definition #1: Success is having many of money.
Having $10 for a beggar will mean enormous money to them. Will $10 be sufficient to you? Or do you wanted $10 thousand or $10 million instead?
Example Bad Definition #2: Success is to be free and do what ever I want.
This is simply ridiculous. Why? Because this type of success would mean that you intended to be homeless beggar on the street. They have no worries, money isn’t a necessity, they have no obligation to whosoever, they can do whatever they want and be wherever they want. Do you want to be like them?
Example Bad Definition #3: Success is having a good education and passing exam.
Will, secondary school enough for you or do you need a professor educational to be called a success. Our late Tan Sri Dato Seri Dr. Lim Goh Tong had only schooling until age of sixteen and yet managed to build an empire of businesses.
Example Bad Definition #4: Success is having a good family?
Yes having a lovingly spouse and children are a must in life but do you know what constitute of a loving family. One of the NOT of a loving family is coming home late at night and saying sorry to your children/spouse for missing the dinner with them for the 5th time of the week.
I suggest that you clearly define what success mean to you and what major accomplishment or goals that need to be achieved or reached before calling it a success in life.
“There is no hope of success for the person who does not have a central purpose, or definite goal at which to aim.” – Napoleon Hill
3rd D’s – DESIRE PLAY A MAJOR ROLE
Put desire to your goals. As what Napoleon Hill said, “Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.”
The process of putting desire is simple and doesn’t cost a single cent.
Example, if you wanted to earn a $50,000 in 5 month period, you start projecting yourself as in the future and seeing yourself holding that $50,000 in your hand. Yes, I might sound rediculous at first but that intense feeling of knowing what you have achieved will eventually amplified your desires and automatically transmute toward your physical body to start working and achieving it.
“Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire makes a small amount of heat.” by Napoleon Hill
4th D’s – DEADLINE ON SUCCESS
Yes, put a deadline to your own goals of success that you defined above. Don’t just day dreaming about your success all this while, put a deadline to it and work at it at once. Without deadline, success will never come even after you gone six feet under.
“A goal is a dream with a deadline’ by Napoleon Hill
‘Goals in writing are dreams with deadlines.” by Brain Tracy
5th D’s – DON’T WAIT FOR THE RIGHT TIME
Don’t wait for the right time to start your success journey cause the right time will never come. Life is like playing a game of chess and the opponent is Success. To win success over, you must not wait too long before making a move. When your time to move is up and yet neglected to move, you will be forfeited a chance which in turn will give the opponent extra advantages to wipe you out of the game. Wait too long, you lose your success.
World Chess Champion, Garry Kimovich Kasparov did not loose to the super computer “Deep Blue” chess player because he is not smart enough, he loose because he just run out of time to think properly for his move. by Elvin Lok
“Time is really the only capital that any human being has and the thing that he can least afford to waste or lose.” by Thomas Edison
6th D’s – DEFEAT AND FAILURE OF SUCCESS
The last D’s of success are very important and for sure all successes will definitely meet with Defeat at least once of twice before success can be attained. Don’t be discouraged when you meet with defeat, failure and set-back.
Let me bring you back to a state which you are at when you are a toddler. Maybe you have forgotten that when you are a toddler you have fallen down and eventually hurt yourself many times before you learned to walk on 2 feet. You didn’t give up then and instead you keep trying till you can stand, walk and run freely as at now. Mother Nature and God had given you the Will Power to overcome difficulties since you are born. Don’t waste this natural ability that are born within you.
To understand and overcome defeat, I suggest that you carefully analyze and understand the meaning of the below quotes.
“Before success comes in any man’s life he is sure to meet with much temporary defeat and, perhaps, some failures. When defeat overtakes a man, the easiest and most logical thing to do is to quit. That is exactly what the majority of men do.” by Napoleon Hill
“When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound, rebuild those plans, and set sail once more toward your coveted goal.” by Napoleon Hill
“For everything you have missed, you have gained something else, and for everything you gain, you lose something else.” by Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Results? Why, man, I have gotten lots of results! If I find 10,000 ways something won’t work, I haven’t failed. I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is often a step forward.” by Thomas Edison
That’s about it for now. Do stay tuned for the next 4 I’s on my blog.
Wishing you a super success in whatever you do.
